Book desc: Growing up in North Korea, in the days before her Father destroyed the world, Young Moon was happy. At least she thought she was, but that was so long ago and she was so very young. Her Father would grow excited when he told her impossible tales of the Great Neighbor, China, with dozens of astronauts in orbit and on the Moon. There was a small base on Mars, too, being built by robots, and even bigger stations -- the ring cities -- were planned. Young Moon used to get uncomfortable and wished he would lower his voice. Their walls were thin in Wonsan and school taught her that this kind of talk was treason. Teacher said the Dear Leader would know if you didn’t pay proper respect to the glories of the Homeland, and he could get very cross with you if he found out. Every screen was two-way and you never knew if someone was watching. All she wanted was to be left alone to talk to the visions in her drawings -- visions that came to warn her of impending danger. But a chance word spoken by an angry classmate would force Young Moon's family to flee North Korea for China, where she would witness her father set in motion a world-shaking disaster of epic proportions. THE END OF EDEN is the first book in the Water Worlds™ sci-fi adventure series, chronicling the terraforming of the inner worlds of the Solar System as seen through the eyes of generations of young women.

Book desc: Simma was sure she'd never see Sami again. Sef or Glyn, either. She'd left Sami standing in the middle of the street in First Right nearly a year ago, and the boys had vanished without a trace long before that, or were chased from the tunnel by the Judge. Living under the water in tunnel Tee Two, with her mom and her mom’s boyfriend, Namid, frightened Simma no end. Any moment, she felt, the walls would split and the whole of the mile-wide river would rush in and drown her. Namid said she'd outgrow it but she was nearly sixteen and this feeling of dread only deepened in her. Then Sami came, as if in a dream, and told her to run! Through a catastrophe brought on by the sabotage of the hated Judge Trapmann, Simma falls in with a crowd of survivors bent on revenge against his cannibal army. She liked a good fight, especially when it meant bringing down a bully, but Sami told her to push on, and it was up to Simma to warn the Twelve Towns. War was coming and worlds were at stake! THE BATTLE FOR NORMAL is a story of courage and discovery in an age of reconstruction, and is the third book in the Water Worlds sci-fi adventure series, chronicling the terraforming of the inner worlds of the Solar System as seen through the eyes of generations of young women. Seven books are planned for the series.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book desc: A fascinating, beautifully illustrated collection of stories from the hit podcast Lore - now an online streaming series They live in shadows - deep in the forest, late in the night, in the dark recesses of our mind. They're spoken of in stories and superstitions, relics of an unenlightened age, old wives' tales, passed down through generations. And yet, no matter how wary and jaded we have become, as individuals or as a society, a part of us remains vulnerable to them. Werewolves and wendigos, poltergeists and vampires, angry elves and vengeful spirits. In this beautifully illustrated volume, the host of the hit podcast Lore serves as a guide on a fascinating journey through the history of these terrifying creatures, and explores not only the legends but what they tell us about ourselves. Aaron Mahnke invites us to the desolate Pine Barrens of New Jersey, where the notorious winged, red-eyed Jersey Devil dwells. Mahnke delves into harrowing accounts of cannibalism-some officially documented, others the stuff of speculation . . . perhaps. He visits the dimly lit rooms where séances take place, the European villages where gremlins make mischief, and Key West, Florida, home of a haunted doll named Robert. The monsters of folklore have become not only a part of our language but a part of our collective psyche. Whether these beasts and bogeymen are real or just a reflection of our primal fears, we know, on some level, that not every mystery has been explained, and that the unknown still holds the power to strike fear deep in our hearts and souls. As Aaron Mahnke reminds us, sometimes the truth is even scarier than the lore... Praise for the Lore podcast 'Truth can often be much scarier than fiction - something Mahnke proves as he dives deep into the world of folklore and the darker side of history in a quest to root out the fragment of truth at the bottom of our fears." - Entertainment Weekly 'Narrated by Mahnke in a style that evokes spooky campfire stories, Lore is a history lesson like no other.' - Esquire

Book desc: Sacred Civics argues that societal transformation requires that spirituality and sacred values are essential to reimagining patterns of how we live, organize and govern ourselves, determine and distribute wealth, inhabit and design cities, and construct relationships with others and with nature. The book brings together transdisciplinary and global academics, professionals, and activists from a range of backgrounds to question assumptions that are fused deep into the code of how societies operate, and to draw on extraordinary wisdom from ancient Indigenous traditions; to social and political movements like Black Lives Matter, the commons, and wellbeing economies; to technologies for participatory futures where people collaborate to reimagine and change culture. Looking at cities and human settlements as the sites of transformation, the book focuses on values, commons, and wisdom to demonstrate that how we choose to live together, to recognize interdependencies, to build, grow, create, and love—matters. Using multiple methodologies to integrate varied knowledge forms and practices, this truly ground-breaking volume includes contributions from renowned and rising voices. Sacred Civics is a must-read for anyone interested in intersectional discussions on social justice, inclusivity, participatory design, healthy communities, and future cities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book desc: The Time Before the Sun has been written with the idea that we must search the past of Earth, this solar system, and humanity if we are to forge a successful future. We must heed the Sumerians’ warning: In The Past the Future is Hidden. The author reveals original content from his 37-year-research dealing with our ideas on the remote past of this solar system, including certain aspects of what we believe are the lack of any type of origins, celestial or organic. We at the Manunnaki Order of Heaven from https://hespesky.com are pitching the idea that eternity is consistent with the existence of the spirit, where the spirit is an electromagnetic being with more pure physical aspects than the flesh. Here eternity becomes the ruler of the Entire Total of Everything. The MOH is convinced that everything is eternal, including life. We also propose that Mercury, Venus, the Moon, Earth, and Mars must be recent (3,000 years) sun captures. We have also included a few revised chapters from the author’s best seller book, The Lost Planet of Enki. He urges the reader to pay close attention to the following... We are certain the atmosphere of the new Earth is beginning to recognize the surface. Lightning, hurricanes, and tornadoes are the kisses the atmosphere of the new Earth is giving to her ever-evolving surface. Think of this as a celestial wedding where we are forcibly invited. Earth is a pig! We believe she must be a living organism. We have evidence to support the notion that Earth feeds from the fabric of space. She defecates volcanic activity. We are of course hopping to be wrong. But if we are right, then all of us are standing on Earth’s feces! Oh no! As you will see, this is not a joke. There is more weird stuff: The surface of the new Earth is hermaphroditic: female dry land, male ocean. She is very aroused as you read. The waters of the new Earth are making love to the dry ground all over the place. The new Earth loves it. To be even more lovable, her new interior produces more surface every day. The entire new Earth is becoming more and more less good for human inhabitation. You know it. And we know it. The people that claim they know what is happening to the entire new Earth are calling their knowledge “human-made climate change.” This is completely wrong. What is truly and really happening is that the new Earth is growing bigger and bigger. Getting hotter and hotter. This book will begin to tell you how this is taking place: How the new Earth is getting ready to become awfully bad for ground gardening. And, if we cannot tell you everything here, you will be directed to hespesky.com where all the right information is located. Warning: Do not attach your heart to material things. They will all be gone. You will certainly suffer more if you put your love on what you build. Everything that you have, and love, which is of this new Earth, will be under water more and more as the unfolding century rolls out. Do not pray that we are wrong. Praying will do you no good. Asking for God’s help will be futile. The new Earth’s destiny as a developing celestial body is unstoppable. Be one with the future. Join this author. But first, buy The Time Before the Sun today!

But when Mosely Albright, a black man from Chicago’s South Side, comes to her back door one morning needing a drink of water and seeking directions back to the train, her plans are derailed . . . to the chagrin of Mishigami (so named by the Ojibwe, also known as Lake Michigan), who has been trying to lure Mary Em into his icy depths in the hopes that she will save him. Mary Em wants nothing more than to end her anguish. Mosely is searching for the love he’s been missing most of his life. And Mishigami—who fears he is dying from rampant pollution and overfishing—seeks a champion. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book desc: The factors affecting water quality are many: The increasing buying power and health concerns of the world population contribute to the creation of new products whose production and disposal lead to the release of chemicals harmful to the environment; the ever-growing world population requires a steady food supply, which increases the pressure to use even more chemicals to control various crop pests; and due to climate change, head waters, rivers, and oceans are becoming increasingly warmer, acidic, and eutrophic as the result of carbod dioxide overload. Using specific examples, Water Quality and Resource Management will address the many challenges of providing clean water to the growing world population. It will also discuss the new technologies that are being developed, for example, to treat and reuse waste waters, and the innovative monitoring approaches that help scientists to assess water quality risks. Such risk assessments are urgently needed to help draft legislations and allow enforcement to ensure accessability to quality water for all. The structure of the book will be the following: Each chapter will provide information about a specific water environment and the challenges it faces. This will be followed by discussion of the pollution effects and actions taken to redress the situation. Finally, future trends will be discussed.

Download Full The Woman Without a Hole - & Other Risky Themes from Old Japanese Poems PDF by Robin D. Gill Full Free and published by Paraverse Press. This book was released on 2007 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book desc: 17-syllabet Japanese poems about human foibles, sans season (i.e., not haiku), were introduced a half-century ago by RH Blyth in two books, "Edo Satirical Verse Anthologies" and "Japanese Life and Character in Senryu." Blyth regretted having to introduce not the best senryu, but only the best that were clean enough to pass the censors. In this anthology, compiled, translated and essayed by Robin D. Gill, like Blyth, a renowned translator of thousands of haiku, we find 1,300 of the senryu (and zappai) that would once have been dangerous to publish. The book is not just an anthology of dirty poems such as Legman's classic "Limericks" or Burford's delightful "Bawdy Verse," but probing essays of thirty themes representative of the eros - both real and imaginary - of Edo, at the time, the world's largest city. Japanese themselves use senryu for historical documentation of social attitudes and cultural practices; thousands of senryu (and the related zappai), including many poems we might consider obscene, serve as examples in the Japanese equivalent of the OED (nipponkokugodaijiten). The specialized argot, obscure allusions and ellipsis that make reading dirty senryu a delightful riddle for one who knows just enough to be challenged yet not defeated, make them impenetrable to outsiders, so this educational yet entertaining resource has not been accessible to most students of Japanese (and the limited translations prove that even professors have difficulty with it). This book tries to accomplish the impossible: it includes all the information - original poems, pronunciation, explanation, glossary - needed to help specialists improve their senryu reading skills, while refraining from full citations to leave plenty of room for the curious monolingual to skip about the eclectic goodies. [Published simultaneously with two titles as an experiment.]
